Aquarela Dance is a new dance company in Birmingham, the first of its kind, dedicated solely to authentic Brazilian dance. It was established in 2008 by Vero Leopoldino with the aim to promote, perform and teach Brazilian dance and culture in the U.K.
Aquarela Dance hold regular drop in classes in Birmingham as well as running specialist workshops and shows across the U.K.
The company specialises in Afro-Brazilian dance fusion. Teaching and performing in many styles including: Rio Carnival Samba Passistas, Bahian Samba de Roda, Dança dos Blocos Afro, Samba Reggae, Axé and Dança Afro.

Frances Jane
After many years as a trained Cuban Salsa dancer, in 2008 Frances joined
Aquarela Dance. She has trained intensively under the guidance of Vero Leopoldino
and is now qualified in Rio Carnival Samba. She has also trained with the London
School of Samba and Element Dance. She is now a full-time dance student at
London Metropolitan University studying Afro-Caribbean and Contemporary dance.
During her gap year Frances dedicated her time to studying traditional dance and percussion in Guadeloupe, Cuba and Argentina.
She has many years of performance experience including in the carnival in Santiago
de Cuba, T4 television, b.BRAZILian Birmingham as well as various cultural community projects across the UK.
